Play a Bigger Part will raise $25,000 to impact over 1,000 families hurt by the recession.
America’s Family is joining forces with KRDO NEWS CHANNEL 13 and KRDO NEWS RADIO105.5 FM – 1240AM to help working families in crisis this summer. From April 19-25, 2009, KRDO news anchor Dan Cochell will live on a billboard for an entire week to raise money for America’s Family. Starting on the evening of April 19, Dan will broadcast live from the Mr. Biggs billboard near I-25 and Garden of the Gods Blvd. Throughout the week, Dan will challenge Colorado Springs residents to “play a bigger part” by making a financial donation to help struggling families. Our goal is to raise over $25,000 to impact 1,000 people. There are thousands of working families in Colorado Springs on the edge of crisis. If we each PLAY A BIGGER PART in helping families in crisis, we can transform Colorado Springs.
PLAY A BIGGER PART is a collaborative effort to leverage our community’s best resources to help those who need it most. From April 19-25, KRDO NEWS RADIO anchor Dan Cochell will live on a billboard to raise money for struggling families in Colorado Springs. Cochell will broadcast live from the Mr. Biggs billboard on I-25 & Garden of the Gods Rd. for an entire week.
America’s Family provides financial counseling and loans to families struggling through this recession. “It’s very hard to get financial help these days,” said America’s Family Executive Director, Matthew Monberg. “The credit crunch really hits working families when they need a loan for a car repair or unexpected bill. We have the funds available to lend right now.”
America’s Family has helps families avoid eviction, get caught up on bills, go back to school, and turn their financial lives around. America’s Family will use the proceeds of the fundraiser to host a community-wide resource fair on June 11, 2009, featuring 20+ local agencies coming together to help lower-income families with direct services and information.
Supporters of Play a Bigger Part include Mr. Biggs Family Fun Center, Plato’s Closet, Diamond City Jewelers, Nevada Auto Sales, Denny’s, NYPD Pizza, Saint’s Coffee, and Tapia Advertising. Each of these businesses are offering a portion of sales, discounts, cash gifts, or premiums for those who give.
